How often should I re-grip my clubs?

I have been asked this question many times.  My rule of thumb is every 18 months or 40 rounds which ever comes first.  This will vary depending on the player, but it is a place to start.
This is the comment from Golf Pride:  As a rule of thumb, you should re-grip once every year. Regardless of whether you play golf every day or only twice a year, ozone, heat, dirt, and oils are constantly at work breaking down the materials that make up your grips. Granted, frequent play and personal preference may dictate re-gripping sooner, but normally there’s enough degradation of the material after a year to warrant fresh grips. Keep in mind that grips lose a significant amount of their original feel long before they become hard and glazed over. Because it happens slowly over time, most golfers fail to notice it. That’s important to remember because just a tiny, imperceptible slip at contact will be magnified to many yards by the time the ball reaches its target.

What is the reason for extra tape Wraps for grips?

I thought I would correct some confusion about extra wraps. 
The majority of today's golf shafts have a butt end of .600" diameter, so when installing a standard size grip, it will be .900" measured 2 inches from the butt.  If I install a Midsize grip it is .962" 2 inches from the butt. When I install grips, I use double grip tape the tape thickness is considered into the overall size of the grip.    To reach a size between sizes I add build-up tape called "wraps" to bring the size to where the client has the correct size feel.  Each wrap adds .008" - .010' to the thickness of the shaft.  It will take 7 wraps to go from standard to midsize. 
This also goes for undersize grips which are .850".  5 wraps will take them to standard size.

An example is my son Josh, he plays Golf Pride Tour Velvet +4 grips with 3 extra wraps.  The size of his grips is .930".

There is NO extra charge for the extra wraps.

We are always being asked "What would a new set of grips cost?" We charge the retail grip price + $4.25 per club for installation.  To re-grip my entire bag, 13 clubs and a putter with Golf Pride CPX standard size ($11.19) and a Super Stroke 2.0 ($24.99) putter grip would cost $229.96 plus tax.  That is a good price for a new set of clubs, because that is effectually what you would have.   Call or e-mail us for a quote.
